Truck-tanker Crash: Extraction of gas from burnt tanker begins in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: In a precautionary measure the district administration in Sambalpur today started extracting the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) from the tanker which has caught fire in front of Jujumura Police Station on National Highway-55 here after being hit by a truck

A specialised vehicle from Balasore reached the spot this morning and took up the gas extraction process in the presence of fire local police, brigade officials and Bharat Petroleum staff.

Due to the ongoing Cuttack-Sambalpur Nationa Highway repairing work, the gas extraction process will be completed at a slow pace. Heavy vehicles plying through the route have been diverted to other routes, said police.

Notably, in a tragic road mishap, an iron ore laden truck had hit the tanker on Friday night. The crash consumed drivers of both the vehicles who were charred to death on the spot.
