Low pressure likely to form over Bay of Bengal today; Heavy rain to lash Odisha

The regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that a low pressure area is likely to form over Bay of Bengal.

Bhubaneswar: The regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that a low pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining north Odisha and West Bengal coasts today.

IMD has warned that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur.

Day 1 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 05.07.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 06.07.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

YELLOW WARNING:- Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangapur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 06.07.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 07.07.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of South Odisha and at many places over the districts of North Odisha.

YELLOW WARNING:- Heavy to very Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangapur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Boudh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Angul, and Keonjhar.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 07.07.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 08.07.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

YELLOW WARNING:- Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nawarangapur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Boudh, Angul, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh.
