Bhubaneswar: A day after the BJP State unit called a state-wide bandh demanding justice for the Kunduli gang rape victim, who ended her life on Monday, its Mahila Morcha members took out a funeral rally here on Thursday protesting against what they termed as failure of the State government in providing justice to the minor girl.
Hundreds of women activists led by State Mahila Morcha President Prabhati Parida took out the rally, carrying a symbolic body of kunduli gang rape victim and raising slogans against the State government from the party office to the Mahatma Gandhi road in the state capital.
The BJP Mahila Morcha also announced to take out protest rallies in 1000 Mandals across the state in next 11 days to press their demand for a CBI probe in this case.
Notably, the class IX student of Musaguda village under Pottangi police limits in Koraput district was allegedly gang raped by four security personnel, while she was returning from the Kunduli Haat (market) on October 10, 2017. This created a huge public outcry in the state.
As the 14-year-old girl was denied justice and harassed by various machinery of the State government, she ended her life by hanging herself, said Parida.
