Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh to take oath as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court today

Cuttack: Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh is going to take oath as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court today.

The Central government issued a notification on February 2nd regarding the appointment of Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh as the new Chief Justice of Odisha. He was recently serving as a Judge in Patna High Court.

“In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh, Judge of the Patna High Court, to be Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court, with effect from the date of he assumes charge of his office,” read a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice.”

It is worth mentioning here that Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh will assume charges form the present acting chief justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, who was appointed with effect from October 4, 2023 following superannuation of Chief Justice Subhasis Talapatra on October 3, 2023.

Meanwhile, the central government has also appointed chief justices of five high courts. Justice Manindra Mohan Srivastava who was Acting Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court. His parent High Court is Chhattisgarh High Court.

At the same time, Justice Ritu Bahri, who was Acting Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.

Justice Vijay Bishnoi, who was Judge of Rajasthan High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court. Additionally, Justice Arun Bhansali, who was Judge of Rajasthan High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.

Justice S Vaidyanathan, who was Judge of Madras High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.
