Bhubaneswar: In an effort to prevent accidents and to promote Odisha zero fatality week, the RTO-1 in Bhubaneswar has warned about fine for illegal parking.

According to reports, after the heart-rending accident in Keonjhar yesterday, the Bhubaneswar Regional Transport Office (RTO)- 1 has urged truck drivers to park in the allocated parking place. He has further added that in case the rule is not followed, heavy fines shall be levied and necessary action shall be taken.

Hence, truck drivers have been urged to park only in the allotted parking spots on the National Highway there shall be heavy fine for illegal parking. RTO-1 Bikash Choudhry said that, keeping in view the tragic accident that occurred yesterday in which eight people were killed as their van rammed into a parked truck in Keonjhar, this instruction has been issued.

Earlier today, yet another incident occured in Pahala area of Bhubaneswar on the National Highway where two youths were killed and one other is fighting for his life as their car rammed into a stationary truck.

The RTO further informed that due to the ongoing Odisha zero fatality week, massive traffic enforcement drives are being carried out in various parts of Bhubaneswar. The checking is being done on the basis of illegal parking, drunken driving, driving without valid driving licence or helmet and underage driving.
