Keonjhar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief over the death of eight people in an accident in Keonjhar today. The accident took place near Ghatgaon today. The CM further announced a generous assistance of Rs. 3 lakh and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.

Chief Minister Patnaik ordered to provide free medical treatment to the 12 injured people and wished them a speedy recovery. In a tragic and heart-rending incident, as many as eight people were killed and seven others were injured after a van crashed into a truck on Friday.

The van was carrying 19 passengers said reports. It crashed into a truck on NH 20 near Balijodi in Anandpur. The passengers were on their way to Maa Tarini Temple in Ghatagaon of Keonjhar.

It is worth mentioning that, seven people died on the spot while one other lost his life in the hospital. All the deceased persons belong to Podamari village of Digapahandi.

Eyewitnesses report that in the accident in Keonjhar, the van crashed into a stationary truck parked on the side of the road just three kilometers away from the Tarini temple.
