Though the month starts from Sunday, tomorrow is Laxmi puja so people will abstain from eating non-veg food hence huge crowd in nonveg markets was witnessed everywhere.
It is worth mentioning here that in the holy month of Kartika people stay away from buying or eating non-veg for the entire month.
Though today the prices are higher as compared to normal days, people are not hesitating to buy non-veg food as they will not be able to consume it for the entire coming month.
In order to meet the surplus demand, the shopkeepers have ordered fish, chicken and mutton from different places like Kolkata, Digha, Balasore, Pipili, Puri, Soro and Baghamari.
Hindus abstain from non-veg food to observe the auspicious holy month of Kartik which is slated to start from Sunday said reports.
