Reports say that, a herd of 22 elephants from the Chandaka forest has been harassing the people of Dokanda Panchayat of Kanas Block of Puri District. They are eating paddy crops and destroying sugarcane.

The herd of elephants are destroying vegetable crops also said reliable reports. It has been the scene since two days at a stretch.

The forest department is continuing its efforts to drive away the elephants. Their movements are being closely monitored. The forest department has warned people not to go out at night.
