Heavy rain in Odisha; IMD issues orange warning for 8 districts

The regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange warning for eight districts of Odisha for heavy rain.

Bhubaneswar: The regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange warning for eight districts of Odisha for heavy rain. The low pressure has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining north Odisha and West Bengal coasts on Sunday.

Due to low pressure, districts including Bargarh, Balangir, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Boudh and Nabarangpur are likely to experience heavy rain to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) on Monday. On the other hand, IMD has issued yellow warning for districts including Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput. The districts under yellow warning are likely to experience heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) today.

Yellow warning will continue in few districts on Tuesday too.  Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundergarh and Keonjhar.

Odisha is likely to experience adequate amount of rain this year, predicts IMD.
