Four Persons drown in Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Four persons including a teenage girl died in separate incidents of drowning in Bhadrak district of Odisha on Saturday.

Three youths drowned in Baitarani River at Berada under Bhandaripokhari block in the district. The incident occurred while they were taking bath along with other friends, sources said.

They have been identified as Dipu Boitai, Jagat Jivan Boitai and Tuna Bala. Their legs reportedly slipped away in the river, their friends said, who attempted to rescue them but in vain.

Getting the information, the Fire and Rescue Services personnel immediately reached the spot and retrieved the bodies after around one hour of search operation.

In another incident, a class VII girl drowned in her village pond at Dangamala under Basudevpur block in the district while taking bath with her friend.

The deceased girl has been identified as Geetanjali Behera.

The district was brought to a standstill as the locals mourned the untimely death of four youths.
