Formation of low pressure area to intensify rainfall in the state from 9th July

A low pressure area which is currently positioned over Balasore is likely to result in widespread rainfall across the state.

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha monsoon season is expected to intensify with an increase in rainfall in the coming days. As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a low pressure area, currently positioned over Balasore, will result in widespread rainfall across the state.

Northern and Coastal areas of the state are likely to receive heavy rainfall, starting from tomorrow. Several regions of the state are likely to receive rain showers on July 10 and July 11.

The intensity of rainfall is likely to escalate in the forthcoming days, starting from July 10. Reportedly, the formation of a cyclone over the Bay of Bengal is likely to cause substantial rainfall in the state on July 12th and 13th. The coastal and Northern regions of the state are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall during this period.

In the last 24 hours, Mathili town of Malkangiri district has recorded the highest rainfall of 90 mm. As of today, the Odisha monsoon season this year, has witnessed an average rainfall of 206.8 mm. This is around 28% less than the expected average rainfall.
