Bhubaneswar: The twin city Commissionerate Police is gearing up for the much-awaited Durga Puja celebrations in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

The cultural programs have been organized in different places of Bhubaneswar for Durga Puja. This year in Bhubaneswar, the melody will continue till 12 am during the puja. Instead of 10 pm, the melody will continue till 12 am.
A meeting was held today in Bhubaneswar to discuss about the Puja related preparations between the Commissionerate police and the puja committees. According to information, this decision has been taken in the joint meeting of Police-Puja Committee for Durga Puja and Bhasani.
However, this year, 183 puja mandaps are being organized in Durga Puja in the capital city of Bhubaneswar. This year, efforts are being made for a liquor-free visarjan (immersion of idols) of Durga idols in Cuttack city, said reliable sources.
A close watch will be kept on criminals, their activities will be monitored by special Commissionerate police teams. Police vans will keep a 24*7 vigil on drunkards. Criminals dealing in drugs and guns will be strictly monitored. The puja is slated to start from October 20 and the visarjan festival will be held on the October 25.
