Dhenkanal: 16 more students of residential college test Covid positive

Dhenkanal: A total of 16 more students of Saikripa Plus Two Residential College at Kunjakanta under the Dhenkanal Municipal Council limits have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to reports, the authorities of the institute had conducted COVID test of 260 students. However, reports of 33 students turned out to be positive yesterday while 16 others’ report received today also turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

It is to be noted here that Dhenkanal District administration declared Kunjakanta as a micro containment zone and sealed the Saikripa Plus Two Residential College yesterday following the detection of 33 students.

The restrictions of the micro containment zone will remain in force at Kunjakanta area till December 12.

The vehicular movement in both public and private has been stopped in the containment zone excluding the vehicles permitted for the supply of essential items, medicines, medical emergency, health surveillance, sanitization and other necessary activities to be undertaken by District Administration.

All the shops and business establishments irrespective of the scale and size in containment zone has been closed with immediate effect. The supply chain of medicine and other essential items will be kept uninterrupted.

All people of the Containment Zone will stay in-door and they have been asked to strictly follow without any deviation.

Violation will invite strict penal action as per Disaster Management Act-2005 and Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 & Covid-19 Regulations – 2020.

Notably, four students of the college were diagnosed positive for the deadly virus. The total COVID positive tally of the college now stands at 53.
