Cuttack: Pet dog critical after being attacked with sword

Though the dog has been taken to the veterinary hospital, as it is now down with 104 degree fever, surgery is not possible

Cuttack: A pet dog is struggling for life in Cuttack of Odisha after it was attacked with a sword by a miscreant on Saturday. Though the dog has been taken to the veterinary hospital, as it is now down with 104-degree fever, surgery is not possible. It can be operated only when the temperature will drop.

Reportedly, a miscreant has attacked the pet Labrador dog of Kalpana Das, a resident of Nimasahi in Cuttack.

As per reports, for the last few days, a group of miscreants were doing ‘adda’ near the dog owner’s garden. Accordingly, Das had opposed the gathering near her house.

As an argument erupted between the boys and the woman, the dog came forward to provide security to its owner. It also attacked the youth.

Being aggrieved by this, the youth attacked the dog with a sword and tried to kill it. It has been complained that he attacked the head portion of the dog two-three times with the sharp weapon. Accordingly, the dog sustained critical injury.

Das immediately took the dog to the Veterinary hospital in the Buxi Bazar area for treatment. However, since the dog is down with 104-degree fever, it can’t be operated now, the doctor said. The vet said that once the temperature will drop, then only surgery on the injured dog can be performed.

The dog owner Das has filed a complaint in this matter at Puri Ghat Thana.

Criticizing the barbarous attack on the pet dog, animal lovers have demanded strict action against the culprit.
