Cuttack Mayor Subhas Singh said that the famous Bali jatra of Cuttack should be given national recognition at the earliest.

Cuttack: Cuttack Mayor Subhas Singh said that the famous Bali jatra of Cuttack should be given national recognition at the earliest.

According to reports the Mayor addressed a press meet today and talked about this issue. He urged the Central Government to take steps in this regard at the earliest.

Subhas Singh further informed that, the Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik had written a letter in this regard but no steps have been taken till now.

Subhas Singh and Rajya Sabha MPs had met the Minister of Culture, Government of India and had submitted a Charter of Demands to provide National Recognition to Bali Jatra but, the pleas had fallen on deaf ears.

He further urged the Central Government to reconsider its decision and consider giving the largest open-air trade fare in Odisha a much-awaited national recognition.

The Mayor further questioned that though the historical Bali jatra has been praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi it is unfortunate as to why it is not being recognized nationally. The Mayor added that if the national recognition is not given soon then the matter will be raised in the Parliament.

This year, the famous Bali Jatra in Cuttack will be held for only 8 days starting from November 27 and ending on December 4, informed the Cuttack district administration.
