Credit card fraud busted in Bhubaneswar, 6 accused with 450 Credit cards arrested; Rs 7-8 Crore fraud suspected

The Commissionerate Police has busted a credit card fraud busted in Bhubaneswar and arrested six accused persons with 450 Credit cards.

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has busted a credit card fraud busted in Bhubaneswar and arrested six accused persons with 450 Credit cards. A fraud of Rs 7-8 fraud is suspected.

One Rakesh Kumar had filed a complaint on December 17 alleging that he had opened one ICCI Bank account in Patrapada Brach and deposited Rs 30,000. Later he came to know that one credit card has been issued against him without his knowledge and consent.

The outstanding dues of credit card was Rs 1,40,000. Hence suspecting fraud against him, Rakesh reported the matter to the police.  Based on his complaint police registered a case under section 419/420/467/468/34 IPC r.w section 66 (D) IT Act and launched an investigation.

In course of action police arrested six persons whom they identified as Prasanjit Dash alia Rinku, Pradeep Kumar Samantara alia Shiba, Mukesh Mantri alias Sajan, Biju Tripathy, Abdul Rahman alias Abdul and Rajesh Dash.

Police also seized 6 mobile phones, 450 Credit cards and debit cards, 50 chequebooks, 78 passbooks, money receipt generated from swipe machine, cash of Rs 7,07,870 and six swipe machines from their possessions.

Prasanjit Dash used to collect the personal credentials of different persons to apply for Credit cards and also fraudulently received those cards and used it while Pradeep, who was employee of the ICICI bank, used to issue those credit cards knowingly well that these have been applied in the name of Rakesh Kumar.

Mukesh Mantri used to collect hard cash by use of Credit cards through POS counters like Hospitals and OMFED booths and Biju Tripathy used to collect all credit cards and approached different POS counters to encash the Credit cards.

Abdul Rahman and Rajesh Dash were the hospital employees who used to give cash to Biju Tripathy against the Credit cards given by him.
