Cold days ahead in Odisha: MeT issues orange warning, See details

Bhubaneswar: The cold wave weather condition in Odisha will continue to prevail for the next two to three days, informed the India Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

“Northwesterly/ northerly dry and cold wind at lower levels penetrating over Odisha and under its influence, isolated cold wave to severe cold wave conditions very likely over some parts of the interior and adjoining coastal districts of Odisha during next 2-3 days,” said the MeT office.

Reportedly, no large change in minimum night temperature during the next 2-3 days. However, the minimum temperature will be below normal by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius.

Till 8.30 am on December 21:

(Yellow Warning): Isolated cold wave condition very likely to prevail over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh and Sambalpur

From 8.30 am on December 21 to 8.30 am on December 22:

(Orange Warning): Isolated cold wave to severe cold wave condition very likely to prevail over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Kandhamal

(Yellow Warning): Isolated cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Nuapada and Kalahandi

From 8.30 am on December 22 to 8.30 am on December 23:

(Yellow Warning): Isolated cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh and Kandhamal

Meanwhile, Odisha recorded the first snowfall of the season as the temperature dropped below 4°C in Koida and Tensa area of Bonai in Sundergarh district. Whereas Daringbadi in Kandhamal district recorded 4 degrees Celsius on Sunday night while Jharsuguda at 5.6 degrees Celsius.
