BSF seizes explosives stocked by Maoists in Koraput forest

Koraput: In a major success against red rebels in the district, BSF seized a huge cache of explosives stocked by Maoists in Chiliba Forest under Machkund Police Station area after conducting a raid on Wednesday.

Informing on the seizure, BSF IG Srinivash said a combing party of BSF 13 Battalion which was engaged in combing duty in Machkund area yesterday, recovered at least 2 SLR guns, 9 detonators, 2 tiffin bombs, several packets of Ammonium Nitrate used in making explosives along with some petrol bottles and wires from Chiliba Forest.

“These booties had been hidden in a bunker prepared by the Maoists in the forest. It is suspected that the red rebels had stored it to use in ambush against the jawans in future,” added the IG.

BSF personnel have intensified their combing operation in Boipariguda area of Koraput district bordering Chhattisgarh and Lamataput area of bordering Malkangiri district for last couple of days. The step was taken after the receipt of intelligence inputs claiming that red rebels are trying to carry out more attack on security personnel in these areas.
