Age fraud in cricket: BCCI bans Odisha cricketer Sumit Sharma

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today reportedly banned Odisha cricketer Sumit Sharma for age fraud, said sources.

Cuttack: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today reportedly banned Odisha cricketer Sumit Sharma for age fraud, said sources.

According to sources, the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) had included Sumit Sharma in the Odisha Ranji team. However, the BCCI found discrepancies in his age during verification of documents.

Sumit Sharma had earlier submitted different documents than the documents he submitted for the Ranji team, added the sources. Due to this, BCCI banned him for two years.

Meanwhile, Tarini Sa has replaced Sumit Sharma for Ranji match against the Baroda, which is to begin tomorrow.
