3 arrested for blank firing in Pipili toll gate

Three people have been arrested for blank firing in toll gate of Pipili of Odisha's Puri district on Thursday morning.

Puri: Three people have been arrested for blank firing in toll gate of Pipili of Odisha’s Puri district. The group of unidentified miscreants launched an attack on staff members of the Pipili Toll Plaza, in the early hours of Thursday. The assailants reportedly fired two bullets into the air and subsequently fled the scene in a car.

According to sources, six individuals, believed to be miscreants, were traveling in a car from Bhubaneswar to Puri. A dispute over toll tax with the plaza staff escalated into a violent altercation. One of the miscreants exited the vehicle and physically assaulted the plaza staff. To further intimidate the staff, the assailants fired blank shots into the air before making escaping from the spot.

During the incident, a toll worker sustained injuries, though their identity remains undisclosed at this time. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the scene, seized one bullet, and initiated an investigation into the matter.

After escaping from the spot, the miscreants went to Nimapara. They left the car near a river and tried to flee from there. Meanwhile, the locals reached the spot and nabbed three of them. They later handed over the accused to the police. The cops have also initiated search operation to nab the other miscreants.
