7 Maoists killed in police encounter in Odisha-Chhatisgarh border

Malkangiri: At least seven Maoists were killed in police encounter in Chhatisgarh’s Narayanpur district bordering Malkangiri district of Odisha.

According to sources, exchange of fire occurred between Maoists and police while the cops were on search operation in Abujhamad forest. During the exchange of fire, four of the Maoists were killed. Meanwhile, the exchange of fire is still underway.

Reportedly, the cops have also seized a large quantity of Maoist materials and guns from the spot. Further detailed information related to the matter are awaited.

Earlier, two Maoists were killed in crossfire between Jawan and Maoists in Boudh district of Odisha on April 24th. The incident occurred in the forest near Boudh under Kantamal police station limits.

Meanwhile, security personnel busted a Maoist camp at Tento jungle under Goelkera police limits of Odisha-Jharkhand border and seized huge amount of explosives from them.

Some poisonous substances, 12 wires, 2.5 kg of gun powder, 5kg of Ammonia Nitrate powder and 1 kg of sulphur powder and belongings of the ultras were seized from the camp area.

The anti-Maoist operation was carried out jointly by Chaibasa police, Cobra Battalion, CRPF and Jharkhand Jaguar at the Tento Jungle after they received a tip-off of presence of maoists along with the top-cadre at the Jungle.
