3 arrested for demanding extortion money in Puri
At least three persons were arrested and forwarded to the court on charges of extortion of money in two separate places of Odisha’s Puri district today.
Puri: At least three persons were arrested and forwarded to the court on charges of extortion of money in two separate places of Odisha’s Puri district today.
In the first case, one Abhisek Pradhan allegedly demanded the ‘Dada Bati’ from a shopkeeper by showing him a knife at Red Cross Road under Kumbharpada police station limits in Puri City.
Pradhan also allegedly threatened to kill the shopkeeper if he hesitates to pay the money. However, he was arrested and by the police based on the complaint filed against him by the shopkeeper and later forwarded to the court.
In the second such incident, cops from the Baselisahi and Talabania police stations arrested Tirupati Nayak and Raja Das for illegally collecting money from the tourists and shop owners at Gadanti Chhaka. Both of them were forwarded to the court after their arrests.
