Baripada: At least two persons of a family including a woman were killed and another fell sick after consuming toxic mushroom in Kainfulia village under Baisinga police station under Mayurbhanj district last night.
The deceased have been identified as Laxmi Hembram and her brother-in-law Bhudan Hembram.
As per the report, Laxmi’s husband Basa Hembram had purchased the mushroom from a nearby market last night which the family had cooked and consumed in dinner.
However, a few minutes after their meal all three members in the family developed symptoms like nausea, vomiting and loose motion. The victims were rushed to Betnoti CHC in critical condition immediately where Laxmi and Bhudan succumbed at around 1 PM.
The critically sick Basa is still under treatment at the hospital.
Baisinga Police has lodged a case of unnatural death in the incident and started investigation.
