Uttarkashi: The rescue operation to save lives of 41 workers trapped at Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi entered its 9th day.
As many as 41 workers continue to remain trapped after a section of a tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi collapsed. The DRDO’s Robotics Machine Team arrived at the Silkyara Tunnel site for the rescue of 41 trapped workers.

The rescue efforts were put on hold on Sunday and it was decided that vertical drilling would be done to rescue men, for which equipment had been mobilised from Gujarat and Odisha.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to take stock of the rescue operation in order to save 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel. He stressed on the need to keep their morale up.
Union minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari who visited the site said that they are doing everything to pull out the workers safely out of the tunnel but it might take 2-3 days more. The minister also said that a thorough enquiry will be conducted once the rescue operation is over.
