Uttarakhand puts hospitals on high alert and issues advisory on new Covid variant

The government of Uttarakhand has issued an advisory regarding the new JN.1 sub-variant of coronavirus (also known as covid).

Dehradun: The government of Uttarakhand has issued an advisory regarding the new JN.1 sub-variant of covid.

Speaking about the new advisory, the State Health Secretary, R Rajesh Kumar said, “The number of patients with the JN.1 variant is increasing in some states. In response, an advisory has been issued for all districts and hospitals in the state, stressing on every possible effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”

“All the District Magistrates and Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) to adhere to the guidelines for COVID-19 prevention in hospitals. Additionally, respiratory, lung, and heart patients should be closely monitored, and individuals with influenza cases should be tested,” he added.

All the hospitals in the states are asked to note down all the information about patients with Covid symptoms into the Integrated Health Information Platform portal. So far no case of JN.1 sub-variant of covid has been reported in Uttarakhand. However, as a precautionary measure, all hospitals have been kept on alert.

Earlier, the Central Government issued advisory to the States in view of a recent upsurge in Covid-19 cases and following the detection of the first case of the JN.1 variant (of Covid) in the country.
