Red alert issued to Southern Tamil Nadu, trains cancelled amid heavy rainfall
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert to Southern Tamil Nadu for today in view of continuous and very heavy rainfall.
Chennai: In the latest update in connection with Tamil Nadu rains, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert to Southern Tamil Nadu for today. This comes in view of continuous and heavy to very heavy rainfall today on December 18.
The heavy rainfall is likely to lash areas over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Thanjavur, and Pudukottai. Schools, banks, private, and financial institutions were suspended in several districts across Tamil Nadu on Monday.
Amid the heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, the Southern Railways have issues a notice concerned with fully and partially cancelled trains.
