‘Meow Meow’ drug worth Rs 2,500 crore seized in Delhi and Pune

New Delhi: Police have seized over 1,100 kilograms of banned drug Mephedrone (MD) also known as ‘Meow Meow’ drug during massive operation for two days in New Delhi and Pune. The price of the drugs is estimated to be Rs 2,500 crore.

According to official reports, the operation began with the arrest of three drug peddlers in Pune. The police seized 700 kg meow meow drugs from them. During investigation, the cops additionally found 400 kg of the synthetic stimulant from godown-like structures in Delhi’s Hauz Khas area.

Reportedly, the drug bust marks it as the largest-ever drug recovery by Pune Police in Maharashtra and one of the most substantial drug busts in the country.

During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the drug was being transported from the Kurkumbh MIDC-based units to storage facilities in New Delhi. Following the seizure, the cops arrested five individuals in connection with the operation, including three couriers and two others currently under interrogation.

According to official reports, Pune Police’s crackdown on the drug smuggling network began from a salt warehouse in the city. Three smugglers were arrested during Bhairavnagar and Vishrantwadi areas of the city, while Mephedrone worth ₹ 3.5 crore was seized.

Simultaneously, the Pune Police’s counterparts in Delhi conducted a major operation in the Hauz Khas area. During the raid, the cops seized drugs worth about Rs 1,000 crore.
