G20 Summit: US President Joe Biden to arrive in Delhi today

US President Joe Biden will arrive in New Delhi at around 7 p.m. on Friday evening to attend the two-day G20 Summit.

New Delhi: US President Joe Biden will arrive in New Delhi at around 7 p.m. on Friday evening to attend the two-day G20 Leaders’ Summit scheduled to begin on Saturday, officials sources said.

This is Biden’s first trip to India after taking office as President in January 2021.

The President left the US for Delhi on Thursday night (US time).

He will follow Covid-19 guidelines set by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during his visit to India, the White House has said.

US President Joe Biden will be put up at the ITC Maurya in Chanakyapuri, where his service team and commandos will be present on every floor of the hotel.

Currently, Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the first leader to arrive in Delhi for the G20 Summit. He was welcomed by MoS Health SP Singh Baghel.

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who leads the World Trade Organisation (WTO), arrived at New Delhi airport on Thursday night to take part in the G20 Summit.

Kristalina Georgieva, who manages the International Monetary Fund, is also in Delhi for the G20 Summit.

Many other world leaders have also arrived in India for the G20 Summit. They include Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Ursula von der Leyen, who is the President of the European Commission, Mathias Cormann, who is the Secretary General of OECD, Mexico’s Economy Minister Raquel Buenrostro Sánchez, Mauritius’ Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, and European Council President Charles Michel. They have all come to Delhi for this important summit.
