Earthquake of 7.2 magnitude hits China, tremors felt in Delhi-NCR region
An earthquake of magnitude 7.2 on the Richter scale jolted China on Monday night. The tremors were also felt in Delhi-NCR region.
New Delhi: An earthquake of magnitude 7.2 on the Richter scale jolted China’s Southern Xinjiang region during the late night hours on Monday. It is noteworthy mentioning that tremors of the quake were also felt in the Delhi-NCR region.
As per reports from the National Center of Seismology, the earthquake occurred at 23:39:11 IST. It originated ta Latitude 40.96 and Longitude 78.30. The epicenter of the quake was about 80 kilometers beneath the earth surface.
The National Centre of Seismology (NCS) took to their official handle on X (formerly Twitter) to inform about the earthquake in China.

Several people were reported injured in the massive earthquake. Further, multiple houses reportedly collapsed along the border in Kyrgyzstan and Xinjiang border. Operations of 27 trains were stopped by the Xinjiang railway department immediately after the earthquake.
