Yamaha R3, MT03 to be launched in India this December, check details

The Yamaha R3 had been absent from the Indian market ever since the BS6 emissions standards were put into action in the early 2020.

In recent news, Yamaha India has come up with some exciting pieces of information for its current and potential customers. The renowned motorcycle manufacturer is all geared up to reintroduce the much-anticipated twin-cylinder R3 and its streetwise sibling, the MT03, into the Indian market in December.

The Yamaha R3 had been absent from the Indian market ever since the BS6 emissions standards were put into action in the early 2020. Now, Yamaha is making a triumphant return with this parallel twin sport bike. All the more reason to celebrate; it is not coming alone- The MT03 is joining the party.

From what reliable sources tell us, these bikes will be launched as completely built-up (CBU) imports from Indonesia. However, Yamaha has plans to shift towards its local assembly production in the future.

As a result of which, these motorcycles are expected to come with a relatively higher price tag. The motorcycle is likely to start around Rs 4 lakh (Ex-showroom). To put it in perspective, the previous generation Yamaha R3 was priced at Rs 3.5 lakh (Ex-showroom). The new R3 boasts several enhancements, including a refreshed design, LED headlamps, and a USD fork.

For those unaware about it, the MT-03 is making its debut in the Indian market. Essentially, it is the raw version of the R3, sharing the same 321cc parallel twin engine that packs 42 horsepower. The Yamaha R3 and MT-03 will both be retailed out of the company’s premium Blue Square dealer network.
