Mahindra to launch 2 new EVs in this year; Know what to expect from them

Mahindra is seen lagging in the EV space in India and in order to stop that the manufacturer has recently launched the updated version of the XUV400. The new XUV400 pro range offers multiple updates over its predecessor and is directly pitched against the likes of the Tata Nexon EV. It is important to mention that the Tata Nexon EV has been a game changer for Tata Motors in terms of EV sales. Mahindra will be trying to strengthen its grip over the EV sector in India in this year.

Mahindra is looking forward to launch two EVs in India in 2024 and those will be XUV300 EV and Mahindra XUV.e8. While the XUV300 EV will be placed under the XUV400 Pro range, the XUV.e8 is expected to cater the likes of the users who are planning for bigger SUV that is electric.

Mahindra XUV300 EV

This electric SUV is expected to be based on the XUV300 facelift that is expected to launch around February this year. The XUV300 EV is expected to get a 35kWh battery pack and will sit under the XUV400 pro range. It will be competing with the likes Tata Nexon base variants. The EV is expected to launch by June 2024 and will likely have a price tag of around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra XUV.e8 EV

The Mahindra XUV.e8 EV will be based on the brand’s born-electric INGLO platform and is expected to debut by the end of 2024. The SUV is expected to be powered by an 80-kWh battery pack. The SUV will be available in two-wheel drive as well as all-wheel drive configurations. Similarly, it will be offered in a single or dual motor setup respectively.

The silhouette of the XUV.e8 EV resembles the XUV700. However, multiple changes are expected on the interior as well as the exterior of the SUV. The test mule of the XUV.e8 EV has been spotted multiple times in India and it can be seen that the SUV offers new alloy wheels, vertically stacked LED headlamps and full-width LED DRL.
