Anand Mahindra rides Hornback e-bike that can fold and run 45 km on single charge

Mahindra Group chairperson Anand Mahindra recently shared some images of him riding a foldable e-bike (electric bicycle) on social media platform X(formerly known as Twitter). He introduced the bike and showcased how the e-bike can be foldable easily and it’s efficiency.

The X post of Anand Mahindra said, “A bunch of IIT Bombay guys have made us proud again. They’ve created the first foldable diamond frame e-bike with full-size wheels in the world. That makes the bike not only 35% more efficient than other foldable bikes but it makes the bike stable at higher than medium speed”.

He further wrote that, “And it’s the only bike that doesn’t have to be lifted after folding. Took my very own HORNBACK X1 for a spin around the office compound! (Full disclosure: I have invested in their startup.) Hornback is available on Amazon as well as on Flipkart.”

The e-bike is called Hornback X1. It is developed by Hornback which is a Hyderabad-based consumer product company founded by Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay alumni Nishith Parikh and Rajkumar Kewat.

Hornback foldable e-bike features

The Hornback X1 comes in grey-orange and blue-orange shades and is priced at Rs 44,999. As Anand Mahindra said, you can buy it on Amazon and Flipkart. The e-bike can also be bought at a three-month no-cost EMI of Rs 14,999. The bike is not available in any offline stores. You can either purchase a Hornback electric bicycle from the Hornback website or on Amazon and Flipkart.

The e-bike features a high-strength carbon steel frame with stainless steel joints. According to the company, the e-bike has been tested to withstand 15,000 folds which is equivalent to up to 20 years of folding. The X1 is designed to be foldable for easy storage and transportation.

Powering the e-bike is a 6V, 7.65Ah removable battery. The battery is IP65 Water and dust resistant. It can be charged fully with a simple 2 pin plug point in just four hours. The Hornback e-bike has a claimed range of up to 45 km on a single charge.

In addition, the electric bicycles comes with a two-year warranty on all parts.
