Puri: Puri Collector and District Election Officer jointly served a show-cause notice to Bharatiya Janta Party’s (BJP) Puri Lok Sabha candidate Dr Sambit Patra on Tuesday.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra had led a rally from Bhubaneswar to Puri, via Uttara, Pipili and Sakhigopal on Monday. As per reports, this was done without obtaining prior permission. Notedly, he also held an idol Shri Jagannath during the rally. This was considered a clear violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

Both BJD and Congress had opposed to Patra’s blatant disregard of the Election Commision. BJD had filed a complaint at the Singhadwar Police Station alleging that Patra has disrespected Lord Jagannath and hurt the sentiments of his devotees.
