BJD files FIR against BJP’s Puri LS candidate Sambit Patra

Puri: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) filed an FIR against Bharatiya Janata Party’s Puri Lok Sabha candidate Sambit Patra.

The state ruling party filed the complaint with the Singhadwara police in the Pilgrim City alleging that the saffron party leader used an idol of Lord Jagannath during an election rally which disrespects Lord Jagannath and hurts the sentiments of devotees of Lord Jagannath.

Earlier in the day, a four-member team of Congress met the Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha and demanded action against Patra alleging that the saffron party leader’s action violated the model code of conduct.

Notably, Patra was seen holding a Lord Jagannath idol during his rally from Bhubaneswar via Uttara, Pipili and, Sakhigopal en route to Puri.
