Four Maoist-hit districts of Odisha feature in the top rankings of NITI Aayog

Bhubaneswar: Four Maoist-affected districts of Odisha have featured in the top five ranks of NITI Aayog.

As per a survey report released by the NITI Aayog today, Nuapada, Gajapati, Koraput and Rayagada districts of the state are the four districts which have found place in NITI Aayog’s ‘Aspirational Districts’ programme.

Nuapada and Koraput have been adjudged as the second and fifth ‘most improved’ districts in the country during June – October 2018. Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu (Rank 1), Siddharthnagar in Uttar Pradesh (Rank 3) and Aurangabad in Bihar (Rank 4) are the other most improved districts of the country.

Likewise, Rayagada district has been adjudged as the fourth most developed district in skilling, reskilling and upskilling of labour force. Raichar (Karnataka), Ramgarh (Jharkhand), Dantewada (Chhattisgarh) and Baramula (Jammu and Kashmir) occupied 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th spots respectively.

Gajapati district has ranked second in terms of improving efficiency of resource-use in agriculture. Sitamarhi (Bihar), Dhalai (Tripura), Chandauli (Uttar Pradesh) and Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh) have ranked 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively in Agriculture.

Nuapada has ranked second in Education section leading the transformation process across the country. Virudhunagar, Gumla (Jharkhand), Siddharthnagar and Vizianagaram have occupied 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th spots respectively in the Education sector.

This apart, Nuapada and Koraput districts have occupied the 2nd and 5th spots respectively in terms of improving connectivity in rural areas and providing household facilities in the country. Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar, Siddharthnagar of Uttar Pradesh and Aurangabad of Maharashtra ranked 1st, 3rd and 4th in this sector.
