Odisha increases Daily dietary expenses of prisoners from Rs. 64 to Rs. 80

Bhubaneswar: The government of Odisha has increased the dietary expenses of prisoners from Rs 64 to Rs 80 per day.

The last increase was in 2015 when the expenses were raised from Rs 60 to Rs 64 per day.

Presently, the prisoners are given three meals a day.

The Directorate of Prisons had written to the State government seeking extra funds for the prisoners for enhancing their dietary allowance.

According to the manual, each prisoner has been prescribed a diet containing 2,816 Kcal and 3,100 Kcal for pregnant and nursing women.
