3 labourers injured in acid exposure at PPL

Paradip: Tension ran high on the premises of the Paradip Phosphates Limited (PPL) here on Friday after at least three labourers were hurt after coming in contact with acid vapour.

The injured labourers have been identified as Bikash Jaysingh and Ashok Das.

The incident took place in the night while a repair work was underway in the plant. The victims who remained engaged in the work got exposed to the vapours of Sulphuric Acid unknowingly and sustained injuries.

Two of the injured were sent to a private hospital in Cuttack following the mishap and one was rushed to SCB Medical due to critical condition.

Details are awaited in the incident.
