WhatsApp soon to introduce a new animated emoji

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new fun feature for users that will make chatting experience more lively. The instant-messaging app is working to add animated emoji within WhatsApp chats.

WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo reported that the app is soon going to bring the feature to users. Apart from this, the app also plans to roll out more options for in-app stickers and emotes.

Telegram has a similar feature. Now, users can send animated emojis to contacts from WhatsApp.

It appears that the animated WhatsApp emoji are designed and created using Lottie, which is an optimized library. Lotte allows designers to create animations quickly and easily. It keeps the size of the animation package small. Scalability is touted as a benefit, as increasing image size shouldn’t impact on quality.

As per reports, the animated emoji’s are likely being tested in WhatsApp desktop beta. But, we expect WhatsApp to roll out the animated emoji  for all version of WhatsApp when released.

WABetaInfo has also indicated that WhatsApp is working on some improvements for the contact view within WhatsApp. The latest Android beta users may get some minor changes to the “About” text that shows underneath contact information. The text used is now smaller so that multiple lines of text are now visible.
