Redmi 12 4G and Redmi 12 5G smartphones launched in India, Price starts at Rs 8,999

The Redmi 12 4G, and Redmi 12 5G smartphone has been launched in India. The two phones has been introduced as the latest affordable phones with prices starting from Rs 8,999. Both the 4G and 5G models of the Redmi 12 have similar specifications including the 6.79-inch FHD+ display, 5000 mAh battery that supports 18W charging through a type C USB port.

Redmi 12 4G specifications

The Redmi 12 4G comes with a glass back panel which gives it a premium look and feel. On the top, you have the camera setup with silver metallic rims surrounding the camera lenses.

The Redmi 12 4G runs on Android 13 with MIUI 14 on-top and MIUI dialler. The device features a 6.79-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, resolution of 1,080 x 2,460 pixels, a touch sampling rate of 240Hz, and a peak brightness level of 450 nits. The screens come with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The display has a punch-hole notch design with slim bezels on three sides and the bezel on chin is slightly thicker.

The device sports a triple rear camera unit housing 50-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It flaunts an  8-megapixel selfie camera.

It is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 processor, paired with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of inbuilt storage. The phones support virtual RAM extensions of up to 12GB and 16GB, respectively. The storage is expandable up to 1TB with a micro-SD card.

The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. It weighs around 198.5 grams. The handset is equipped with 3.5mm audio jacks and side-mounted fingerprint sensors. It is  IP53 rated for dust and water resistance.

The phone also has WiFi support, GPS, Bluetooth, v5.0, NFC, and USB Type-C connectivity.

Redmi 12 5G specifications

The Redmi 12 5G has similar specifications as the Redmi 12 4G phone. The main difference between the two phones is the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, camera and 5G technology. The Redmi 12 5G supports 5G connectivity and is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor.

The dual camera unit at the rear of Redmi 12 5G includes a 50-megapixel primary camera with a 2-megapixel depth camera and an LED flash. The phone has a similar 8-megapixel front camera as the 4G model.

It also has a 5000 mAh battery that supports 18W charging. through a type C USB port.

Redmi 12 4G, Redmi 12 5G: Price and availability

The Redmi 12 4G is priced at Rs 8,999 for the 4GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant. While the 6GB RAM and 128 GB variant has an effective price of Rs 10,499.  The prices include a bank offer or an exchange discount of Rs 1,000.

The Redmi 12 5G, on the other hand, has a price tag of Rs 10,999 for 4GB + 128GB option, while the 6GB + 128GB variant costs Rs 12,4999. The higher 8GB + 256GB model is priced at Rs 14,999.

Both the model is available in Jade Black, Moonstone Silver, and Pastel Blue colour options.

Talking about the availability, the phones will go on sale from August 4 from 12:00 pm onwards. The Redmi 12 5G will be available on the brand’s official website as well as Amazon. As for the Redmi 12 4G, it will be up for grabs on the brand’s official website and Flipkart.
