Google warns Android, iPhone users of potential security and privacy risks

Google has alerted Android and iPhone users about potential security and privacy risks associated with the use of AI in smartphone apps.

Google has alerted Android and iPhone users about potential security and privacy risks associated with the use of artificial intelligence in smartphone apps. The warning issued by Google revealed that customers should not reveal their confidential information during any conversation on Gemini apps.

Google has stated this through its Gemini App Privacy Hub blog. The statement said that users should not enter confidential information during any conversation. They should also not reveal any data that should not be displayed as a reviewer to see the information or Google might use it to improve it’s products, services, and machine-learning technologies.

Explaining further, the tech giant stated that users should refrain from giving personal information as any conversation that has been reviewed once will remain there for a certain period even after you have deleted the Gemini Apps activity.

The reason they are stored is because they are stored in separate space and not in any user’s Google Account. According to Google, the conversations containing the confidential information might be retained for up to three years.

It stated, “Conversations that have been reviewed or annotated by human reviewers (and related data like your language, device type, location info, or feedback) are not deleted when you delete your Gemini Apps activity because they are kept separately and are not connected to your Google Account. Instead, they are retained for up to three years.”

It further revealed that the user’s conversation will be saved in their account for up to 72 hours even though the Gemini Apps Activity is turned off. Which lets Google provide the service and process any feedback. However, this activity won’t appear in your Gemini Apps Activity.

Moreover, Gemini can be activated with voice activation, even when you don’t intend to. For example, if there’s a noise that sounds like “Hey Google” then Gemini responds, and it will be treated the same as an intended activation and according to your settings.
