Apple rolls out iOS 17.1 with new features, security and bug fixes

Apple has released the latest version of its iPhone operating system -iOS 17.1 update with new features and security fixes.

The update has brought support for large AirDrop file transfer, improvements to StandBy feature and Apple Music. The update has also brought fix for several issues witnessed previously. The supported models for the new iOS 17.1 include iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 11 series, and the latest newer models.

The Cupertino-based tech giant has also rolled out the iPadOS 17.1, and watchOS 10.1 to all supported devices along with the iOS 17.1.

Apple recently released the iOS 17 with the launch of the latest iPhone 15 series. Now, the tech giant has released the iOS 17.1 update for eligible iPhone models with new features, several improvements, and bug fixes.

With the new update, iOS users can now send large AirDrop file over the Internet even if they are out of the AirDrop range after the sharing process has started. Apple has also improved the Apple Music App. The app now includes options for favourite songs, albums, and playlists, and users can filter to display their favourites in the library.  Moreover, users will also see song suggestions at the bottom of every playlist and a new cover art collection offering designs that will change colours to reflect the music in the playlist.

The improved StandBy feature will now give users more control over when the display turns off in select iPhones like the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Apple has also addressed several issues with the latest iOS update. The update has brought fixes for the issue of the responsiveness of keyboards, displaying names of incoming callers and displaying image persistence. It alos solves the issue that may cause the Significant Location privacy setting to reset when transferring an Apple Watch or pairing it for the first time. It adds Home key support for Matter locks.

Users can now choose a specific album to use with Photo Shuffle on the Lock Screen with a new option. The update optimises crash detection features in all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models.

The eligible iPhone models will receive a notification icon on the Settings app when the update is available for them. iPhone users can manually check for an update by heading to Settings > General > Software Update.

iPhone models including iPhone 15 series, iPhone 14 series, iPhone SE (2022), iPhone 13 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone SE (2020), iPhone 11 series, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR are receiving iOS 17.1.
