Apple launches the iOS 17.3 and iPadOS 17.3 for supported devices; Introduces Stolen Device Protection

Apple has launched the iOS 17.3 along with iPadOS 17.3 for the supported Apple devices across the globe. The major update that Apple had brought in the update is the new Stolen Device protection feature for their iPhones. This adds an extra layer to the security of your Apple device. The other updates include improved bug fixes, New Unity Lock Screen wallpaper, Collaborative Playlists and much more.
The most important feature in the Apple iOS 17.3 update is the Stolen Device Protection feature for iPhones. When the feature is activated, the Stolen device protection requires Face ID or Touch ID authentication for multiple actions. These functions include Apple Cash and savings actions in Wallet, turning off Lost Mode, erasing content, viewing stored passwords.
A user has to unlock the smartphone twice through Face ID or Touch ID for important security actions. There is a one hour waiting period for the user between the biometric authentications. The security actions include changing Apple ID password, update Apple ID security settings, turning off stolen device protection, changing iPhone password.
How to enable Stolen Device Protection feature
The Stolen Device Protection can be located in the Settings app under Face ID and Passcode. After updating to iOS 17.3, the iPhone users will be prompted to use the feature.
The other updates include Lock Screen and Music. The new unity wallpaper celebrates Black History month. Users can invite friends to join their playlist and can add, reorder and remove songs through Collaborative Playlist. On the other hand, the AirPlay hotel support lets users stream content directly in TV of your room in select hotels. The Crash detection has also been optimized for all iPhone 14 and 15 models.
