Apple Glasses may have the ability to correct your eyesight, reveals new patent

Apple Glasses is currently in the works and a new patent has revealed that the glasses may have the ability to correct your vision.

Though the tech giant is yet to officially confirm the launch of the Apple Glasses, a patent, which was granted to the company on Thursday, has indicated that the wearable may come with the vision correction feature. The patent was first spotted by Apple Insider.

As per reports of India Today, the Apple Glass patent is titled “Tunable and foveated lens systems.”

The Apple Glasses can also be used as a regular pair of glasses. However, you don’t need prescription glasses for this as it has the ability to adjust the position of the lenses automatically. The feature is easy to use so, anybody can use the feature without any problems, said the report.

According to the Apple patent, the glasses will include one or more adjustable lenses that are designed to align with a respective one of a user’s eyes. These lenses are likely to have a foveated liquid crystal adjustable lens stacked with a non-liquid-crystal adjustable lens such as a fluid-filled lens or an Alvarez lens.

“The foveated adjustable lens may include electrically modulated optical material such as one or more liquid crystal cells. The liquid crystal cells may include arrays of electrodes that extend along one, two, three, four, or more than four directions.” the Apple patent reads.

The control circuitry may apply control signals to the array of electrodes in each liquid crystal cell to produce the desired phase profile. ,

The Apple Glass is expected to come with a control circuitry, a sensor system that tracks the user’s gaze and adjustable lens components that align with the user’s eye.

As per the patent, the control circuitry may apply control signals to the array of electrodes in each liquid crystal cell to produce the desired phase profile of a user. Each lens may be foveated such that portions of the lens within the user’s gaze exhibit a different phase profile than portions of the lens outside of the user’s gaze.

With this technology, the Apple Glass can adjust to various vision problems like near-sightedness, far-sightedness, astigmatism, and others. Users can solely use the glasses for vision correction with smart features turned off.

However, note that not all the patent won by Apple arrives in the market. So, the company may or may not launch the device with this feature.
