Sonepur: Tension prevailed in Karnapali village under Biramaharajpur police limits in Sonepur district last night after unidentified miscreants grievously injured a youth following an attempt to kill him by slitting throat over past enmity.
The victim has been identified as Basudev Khandagiri of the same locality.
The attack took place late in the night, while Basudev was sleeping on the roof of his house to get respite of blistering heat. A group of attackers climbed atop the roof and tried to slit his throat with a sharp weapon.
However, they fled from the spot after Basudev bled profusely and screamed in pain to gather locals.
He was later rushed to a nearby hospital and then shifted to VIMSAR in Sambalpur due to deteriorating condition.
Police have lodged a case in the incident and started investigation to nab the culprits.
