Koraput: A woman Sarpanch has been arrested by Vigilance official on charges of bribery in Odisha’s Koraput district on Saturday.
The arrested Sarpanch has been identified as Raila Majhi, Sarpanch of Mujanga Gram Panchayat.
According to reports, a team of anti-corruption sleuths of Koraput Division laid a trap based on the allegation that she had demanded Rs 20,000 from one Gangadhar Saunta of Baktaguda village under Koraput Sadar police limits and arrested her while she was taking the bribe amount at her rented house at Bhejaput village under Koraput Sadar Police Station.
Majhi had reportedly had reportedly demanded the money to issue work order in respect of a village pond in his favour.
