Bhawanipatna: In yet another rain-related casualty in the State, at least one woman was killed and another sustained critical injuries in a wall collapse incident which took place in Arkabahalipada village in Kalahandi district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Ranimati Singh. The injured is her daughter Jasobanti Singh.
The mishap took place last night while the victim duo was busy in cooking at their house. A portion of wall of the thatched house they were living in had weakened due to incessant rain in the past couple of days in the area suddenly caved in.
Ranimati died on the spot as after coming under the debris of the collapsed wall whereas Jasobanti sustained grievous injury after being hit by it.
Some neighbours rushed the injured to Kalahandi District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) immediately from where she has been shifted to Burla Hospital in Sambalpur of late.
Meanwhile, police have seized the body for autopsy and lodged a case in connection with the mishap.
