Phulbani: Adding to the never-ending story of the superstitious belief prevalent in remote patches of the State, a middle-aged woman has been branded with a hot iron to get cured of an ailment recently.
As per the report, the victim identified as Rachana Thela was suffering from a stomach ailment for past years. While she visited doctors at Baliguda hospital for several occasions in the past, her family members have claimed that the medicines didn’t work due to which they visited a village quack yesterday.
While the village quack applied unethical medical practice and branded the patient’s stomach with hot iron the process failed to give her any relief.
Now hit by cash crunch as well as failure of superstitious practise Rachana’s family has appealed for government assistance for her treatment.
