Paradip: In a tragic mishap a labourer of Paradip Port was killed after being hit by a truck on its premises last night.
The deceased has been identified as Gandharba Gouda (58).
As per the report, Gandharba was busy in loading and unloading activity at I3 iron plot when the mishap took place. The driver of an iron ore laden truck lost control over the wheels and ended up mowing down the victim under its wheels.
Though fellow workers rushed the victim to a nearby hospital he succumbed there under treatment.
FCI Workers’ Union staged a protest near the port demanding compensation to the next of kin of the deceased after the incident.
Police rushed to the spot and took the truck driver involved in the accident into custody for interrogation.
