Keonjhar: In a video which has gone viral on the social networking sites, a tehsildar of Barbil Tehsil, who is also the Block Development Officer (BDO) in-charge of Joda Block, is seen beating up a driver.
Though the incident took place yesterday, the matter came to light after the video of the incident went viral today.
According to reports, BDO Khirad Kumar Behera had engaged several vehicles to take the crowd to the farmers’ conclave held in Pandapada yesterday. Initially, some breakfast was provided to the people and the drivers of the vehicles. However, when they allegedly did not get anything to eat during the launch time, a driver named Purna Chandra Barik of Indpur village in Sundergarh district, asked some money to the BDO to buy food.
However, a heated argument ensued between Barik and Behera over the matter. When Barik tried to make the video of the entire incident, Behera scolded him and beat him up. However, the driver managed to take video of the incident, which has now gone viral in the district.
While the BDO’s action has been condemned by the people of different walks of lives, he refused to give any comments over the matter.
