Jajpur: In a shocking incident, an under trial prisoner found hanging in Jajpur district of Odisha, said reports on Wednesday.
The undertrial prisoner committed suicide in Ragadi sub-jail in Jajpur. He committed suicide this morning in an under-construction house in the jail premises. He was rescued while hanging with a gamcha (country towel) around his neck.
According to the information, at around 11:30 am today the prisoner committed suicide with the help of a gamcha inside the under-construction house inside the prison. With the help of security personnel, he was rescued in a critical condition and admitted to Jajpur Road Community Health Center (CHC). But after first aid, the doctor declared him dead.
The prisoner found hanging in Jajpur. His trial had been pending for 49 days under a POSCO Act case. The dead prisoner has been identified as Balaram Behera, the Jajpur Road Police reached the medical center and started investigating into the incident. The reason for the suicide however remains unclear.
